A Look Back – Part The Sixth

Month 11.  The eleventh hour.  This month shall be forever remembered as The Month Of Trials.  It started with a bang krash kapow scream, what with The Incident What With The Stairs And The Walker.  And it ended with a whimper.  What with CASENIGHTMAREGREEN: The Cthonian Strep Monster.  I just did that thing where I tilt my head a little to the side and snort/laugh quietly out of my nose.  That’s my way of saying that was Real Hard.  Let’s try not to get into too much troubles, okay?  Truthfully, even just a month out my most prominent recollection of that month is learning how resilient Claire is.  In that picture, she was still finishing her round of antibiotics.  But, her attitude was, Strep Monster? Peh! I don’t need your stinking antibiotics!  Completely unphased.  Danielle and I still have not mentally recovered.  Claire wakes up everday and announces gleefully that she will wreak wonderful new havoc and laugh mightily.  My daughter inspires me.  Okay?  I said it.

This most recent month marked our first family trip as Road Warriors.  And, I will forever treasure our first picture at a kitchsy piece of memorbilia from a past age of hearty roadside eats.  My family has a history with road trips.  Equal parts: new wonders, amazing sites, and take-a-flippin’-step-back-because-I’ve-had-enough-of-you-people.  Good Times!  Well, some cases made for better stories to look back on and laugh years after the trauma had worn off.  Oh, The Mashing Of The Sandwiches, The I Know Where The "Nature" Trail Is, The Rending Of The Post Cards, and The Incident On The Roadside With The Police Officer And The Spotlight.  I hope one day to make new memories like those with my family.  So, thanks for being a good sport, in advance, Claire.

Obligatory Star Trek Reference:

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Her ongoing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life-forms and new civilizations; to boldly go where no one has gone before.

That’s my baby.  Captain of the Enterprise.  I’m pretty sure I’m a red shirt.  I thought I might be Bones or Scotty or Sulu.  But, I’m pretty sure it’s Red Shirt.  But, look.  Just look how great my baby is.
